Opium Oratorium parte de uma experiência hospitalar com morfina que resultou em estresse pós-traumático. Durante a abstinência, vivi estados delirantes que passaram a retornar como gatilhos ao longo dos anos, fazendo com que eu revivesse as mesmas imagens de forma insistente. Este trabalho surge como uma tentativa de interromper esse ciclo, criando um espaço onde essas memórias pudessem ser deslocadas da minha mente para o ambiente físico.

Construo o oratório como um altar para essas imagens e ofereço cerca de 280 moedas marcadas por barro e pigmentos naturais como uma troca, uma negociação, para que elas deixem de retornar. Ao mesmo tempo, a obra se abre à interação: o público pode acessar e folhear esse conjunto, compartilhando aquilo que antes estava restrito à minha experiência. Existe aqui uma tentativa de entender se essas imagens persistem porque precisam circular, ser vistas, divididas, e se, ao fazer isso, elas podem finalmente perder força.

Opium Oratorium stems from a hospital experience with morphine that led to post-traumatic stress. During withdrawal, I went through delirious states that later returned as triggers, causing the same images to reappear persistently over time. This work emerges as an attempt to interrupt that cycle by creating a space where these memories could be displaced from my mind into the physical environment.

I build the oratory as an altar for these images and offer around 280 coins marked with clay and natural pigments as a form of exchange, a negotiation, for them to stop returning. At the same time, the work invites interaction: viewers can access and handle this material, sharing what was once confined to my experience. There is an attempt to understand whether these images persist because they need to circulate, to be seen and shared, and whether, through that, they might finally lose their hold.
