Minha ideia central nesta obra foi produzir uma marionete da paisagem, entendendo esse objeto como um estudo sobre diferentes maneiras de retratar um bioma. A partir dessa forma, experimento mídias diversas para pensar como a paisagem é construída, transmitida e retratada por imagens.

Essa reflexão parte de uma tensão entre percepções nacionais e regionais da paisagem. A região onde moro atualmente, o Nordeste, é muitas vezes transmitida por novelas, filmes e outras mídias como um lugar reduzido à seca, aos espinhos, aos cactos, à fome e à falta d’água. Essa paisagem existe, mas ela não esgota a complexidade do território. O trabalho nasce do desejo de tensionar essa visão limitada e de lembrar que um mesmo estado, um mesmo bioma e uma mesma região contêm muitas outras formas de aparência, textura e vida.

A obra foi produzida durante uma imersão em uma praia marcada pela presença abundante de argila e barro, materiais que usei como base para criar texturas, desenhos e fotografias. A partir deles, construí imagens que simulam essa paisagem arida mais recorrente no imaginário da mídia brasileira.

My central idea in this work was to produce a landscape puppet, understanding this object as a study on different ways of portraying a biome. From this form, I experiment with diverse media to think about how the landscape is constructed, transmitted, and portrayed through images.

This reflection stems from a tension between national and regional perceptions of the landscape. The region where I currently live, the Northeast, is often portrayed in soap operas, films, and other media as a place reduced to drought, thorns, cacti, hunger, and lack of water. This landscape exists, but it does not exhaust the complexity of the territory. The work arises from the desire to challenge this limited vision and to remember that the same state, the same biome, and the same region contain many other forms of appearance, texture, and life.

The work was produced during an immersion on a beach marked by the abundant presence of clay and mud, materials that I used as a basis to create textures, drawings, and photographs. From them, I constructed images that simulate this arid landscape that is most recurrent in the imagination of the Brazilian media.

Project selected and developed for the grant "Panapaná - November of Visual Arts" financed by Fundação Espaço Cultural — FUNESC.

O trabalho artístico foi desenvolvido durante a imersão no Espaço Arapuca Arte Residência sob o edital ‘Panapaná - Novembro das Artes 2023'. Foram intensos 10 dias imersivos em meio a natureza construindo obras que fizeram parte da exposição integrante da programação do projeto que tem como temática “natureza e natureza imaginada: interseções entre tradição, arte digital e IA”.

Os artistas foram acompanhados pelos mentores Cris Peres e Serge Huot, ambos artistas visuais, além da curadora e historiadora de arte, Rita do Monte.

The artistic work was developed during the immersion at "Arapuca Art Residency" under the announcement 'Panapaná - November of the Arts 2023'. It was an intense 10 immersive days amidst nature, building these works that were part of the exhibition that is part of the project's programming, which has as its theme “nature and imagined nature: intersections between tradition, digital art and AI”.

The artists were accompanied by mentors Cris Peres and Serge Huot, both visual artists, and by the curator and art historian Rita do Monte.

Em Ensaios Sobre Paisagens a artista investiga os clichês locais do nordeste brasileiro, com foco no sertão. A obra é composta por 10 instalações (marionetes) e um tríptico, mesclando técnicas tradicionais que incluem pintura, inteligência artificial (IA) e modelagem 3D. Para criar as paisagens flutuantes da instalação, a artista utilizou fotografias, pigmentos naturais de tons terrosos e IA. A instalação também inclui imagens penduradas em transparências e papel vegetal, seguindo uma estética topográfica que permite uma visão aérea das paisagens, algo facilitado pelo avanço tecnológico como a popularização de drones. Além disso, um tríptico de esculturas 3D mescla imagens geradas por IA, combinando texturas e criando uma fusão entre paisagens físicas e digitais. Como descreve a artista: “Cada escultura apresenta uma interpretação da topografia: uma delas assume um formato orgânico de composição, enquanto a segunda possui uma esfera com espinhos ao seu redor, a terceira escultura é composta por cubos envoltos por um líquido dourado e branco. Essas representações imaginárias da topografia convidam os espectadores a explorar a diversidade e a complexidade da paisagem brasileira.”

In "Essays on Landscapes," the artist explores the local clichés of the Brazilian Northeast, with a focus on the hinterlands. The work consists of 10 installations (marionettes) and a triptych, blending traditional techniques that include painting, artificial intelligence (AI), and 3D modeling. To create the floating landscapes of the installation, the artist used photographs, natural earth-toned pigments, and AI. The installation also includes images hung on transparencies and tracing paper, following a topographic aesthetic that allows an aerial view of the landscapes, facilitated by technological advances such as the popularization of drones. Additionally, a triptych of 3D sculptures blends AI-generated images, combining textures and creating a fusion between physical and digital landscapes. As the artist describes it: "Each sculpture presents an interpretation of the topography: one takes on an organic composition, while the second has a sphere with thorns around it, and the third sculpture is composed of cubes surrounded by a golden and white liquid. These imaginative representations of the topography invite viewers to explore the diversity and complexity of the Brazilian landscape."
